Newport Harbor 7 – El Dorado 8
In an upset victory, EDHS edged out host NHHS on a late-game goal, 8-7. The game went back and forth early, with a Hawk rally leaving the visitors up 6-3 at half. El Dorado’s Catherine Shim led the way with three goals in the first. Down 7-4 with eleven minutes to go, The Sailors got hot; Alex Palmer netted her third of the game to tie it with 4:37 to go. Allana Rockwell and Rylie Siegfried each booked a goal in the comeback. But with just over two minutes to go, the Hawk’s Savannah Rodriguez broke through the defense to score her second of the half—a goal protested by the Sailor bench. El Dorado held strong in the waning minutes, deflecting a couple late-game scoring chances.
Newport Harbor 11 – El Dorado 4
The JV Sailor Girls brought their “A” game to Davidson Field on Thursday afternoon and handily defeated El Dorado by a score of 11-4.The action began quickly as Nicole Newman swiftly had a hat trick with the 3 goals being scored in the first 5 minutes of the game. Hannah Clark-Nixon had a strong game with 2 goals and several draw controls. The remaining goals were scored by Jessica Woodruff, Laura Tran, Nina Robinson, Caitlin Dwyer, Sarah Farley (Assist by Natalia Valente) and Emily Peschong (Assist by Caitlin Dwyer). Defensively, the Sailors did a great job with eight caused turnovers, led by Captain Emily Peschong who caused three. The girls combined for 33 ground ball controls, led by Sarah Spence and Nina Robinson who each had five and Captain Jillian Rosten who had four. In draw control, the girls had 13 led by Sarah Farley who had 4. Sophia Martinez had an excellent game in goal allowing only four goals on 14 shots
