Newport Harbor 9 – Trabuco Hills 10

THHS and NHHS were both defending 3-0 records, and the game was a back-and-forth battle that ended with a 10-9 victory for the visiting Mustangs. For the Sailors, Mia Bagiu shut down the Mustangs’ most prolific goal scorer, but Trabuco’s junior midfielder Jenelle Phillips took charge with four goals. Alex Palmer had another stellar night for the Tars, booking four goals and an assist. The Sailor defense held the prolific Trabuco attack to six under its average. With three games decided by three goals in the last month, a new rivalry is taking shape.

JV
Newport Harbor 9 – Trabuco Hills 4

In their closest contest yet, the Sailor Girls JV team beat Trabuco Hills on Thursday afternoon keeping their undefeated season going and improving to 4-0. The game was well played by both teams with crisp passing and good defense the order of the day. Caitlin Dwyer led the team with four goals on ten shots. Nicole Newman had another great defensive game with two caused turn over’s and one interception. Draw control was non-existent for the team in the first half, however Nina Robinson and Jessica Woodruff combined for five in the second half. Sophia Martinez had another strong game in net with nine saves.
